The objective
for this project is to create feature journalism about how file sharing is
affecting the world. The reason why I am writing this feature journalism is to
bring awareness to the society on how it’s affecting the audience, artists and
the music industry. My magazine article is aimed at teenagers (16-18) I have
used a niche market as this is the particular age range that download music
online.
To create the
article I had to think of my article headline and to design the housestyle
which was difficult this is because I wanted it to stand out but it should also
relate to my genre and target audience, however the main image I used for my article
is an image from the internet which is an indirect mode of address.
My secondary
data was that I researched facts and figures for online downloading as I didn’t
have much knowledge on file sharing and had to back up my argument with
trustworthy evidence such as The Guardian, BBC News; this was effective because
my article wouldn’t be biased. However because my article is aimed at a niche
market, which is 16-18 year olds, I thought the housestyle and background
should appeal to them and engage them with reading. Also another part of my
secondary data was to research about the history file sharing. I then conducted
my primary data (audience feedback) which was to find out the positives and
negatives about my article, therefore I asked my peers and I found out that my
article was appropriate for my target audience. Moreover another method was
reading the article given in class I highlighted the key information that I
could add to my article and things that I found interesting
To publish my
magazine the company I will be using is Emap; Emap is a business-to-business
multiplatform media group, which brands inform, inspire and connect within the
sectors they operate in. for millions of people across the globe involved in
the built environment, retail, media, fashion, health, education, government
and automotive sectors, E-map provides essential news, analysis and access. I
have chosen this particular company because my magazine is aimed at a niche
audience and also includes essential news and information about the media which
inform and inspire my target audience (16-18).
Lastly to
create my article I used InDesign as this was an appropriate programme for my
article however I did have some difficulties as I was not able to save my work
as a JPEG file this meant that I could not blog my article and present my work
to a more larger audience. Nevertheless I have not yet been able to publish to
my blog as the network does not allow me to.
